Vojtěch Urban

Cellist Vojtěch Urban (*1988) is a popular chamber player. As a member of the chamber ensemble TrioTones and the Doležal Quartet, he regularly performs at concerts both at home and abroad (Europe, Asia). Together with the Doležal Quartet, he also co-organizes the chamber music festival Qu@rtet+ in Prague and records for Supraphon. In addition, he is invited to the juries of competitions and is engaged in teaching activities at a music school in Prague, where, in addition to cello, he also teaches chamber music and conducts a chamber orchestra. With fellow cellists Daniel Petrásek and Tomáš Strašil, he organizes workshop for young cellists called “Cellování”.

Vojtěch Urban graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in the classes of prof. Daniel Veis and prof. Mikael Ericsson. He completed his studies with a one-year internship at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig in the class of prof. Peter Bruns. He also participated in many master classes, e.g. with Robert Cohen, Karine Georgian, Christoph Richter, Ludwig Quandt and others. He is a laureate of several national and international competitions and has performed as a soloist with the Prague Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, the Czech Chamber Orchestra, the North Bohemian Theater Orchestra and others.
